Book-by-bed lodges set total occupancy allowed in each Season Period, using .
In the above example, 27 is the maximum number of guests permitted, not counting guests with a tariff marked as “no bed occupied”. The number of held beds is set at 3 for the season. Held beds reduce the number of beds visible to members/public on the booking matrix. In the above example, and empty lodge would show 24 beds available, a lodge with 24 or more guests would show zero beds available. However when logged in as admin, all 27 beds show and can be booked.
Held beds give you flexibility to allocate bookings into rooms, where it might not be possible to utilise all beds.
You can release held beds on a night-by-night basis, via admin menu → bookings → release beds. If this menu item isn’t visible, get in touch to have it turned on. You can also access the release beds screen by clicking on a cell in the step 1 booking matrix.
You can release a negative number of beds, which has the effect of holding more beds than the season setting.
What do we mean by “book-by-bed” lodge? Site Config item BOOKING_BY_BED is set to YES. The booking matrix shows a single row for the lodge, with the number of available beds shown as a number in each cell.
