Tariff Selection

How tariffs are selected when making a booking

Configuration Item TARIFF_BY_MEMBER is an on-off switch that controls how tariffs are selected when making a booking.

TARIFF_BY_MEMBER On (ticked)

The name field comes first. Typing surname triggers a database lookup (if you are logged in). If you select a name from the list of suggestions, the tariff type is assigned automatically. This is based on the Member Class assigned to the name you selected.

When a name is selected from the suggestions, the corresponding member database entry is linked to that guest in the booking data.

If you don’t select a name from the suggestions, the only tariffs available are those marked as “public”, see Tariff Types.

For this configuration to work, your member database has to include all family members who receive tariffs that are not Public (guest) tariffs.

When this configuration is on, your Member Class table has an additional field which assigns the tariff type for each Member Class.

TARIFF_BY_MEMBER Off (not ticked)

The tariff type selector comes first. You can select any tariff based on your Access Level, e.g. members can see Public and Member level tariffs. In this way you can have tariffs that only Admin can use.

The next field is the guest name field.

If you select a tariff other than one marked as Public, typing into the guest name field performs a lookup on the member database. It can find any entry, subject to your configured rules about un-financial members.

Partners and children are also looked up by surname. This saves typing and enters the selected name into the field, but isn’t linked to the database entry for that family member subsequently.

You can choose any tariff and assign any name in this configuration.
