Member Stored Cards

Members can choose to store credit card details with eWay

When a member pays, their card details are communicated directly from their browser to eWay and are not seen by the Booking Service. A member can choose to allow eWay to retain their card details, eWay returns a token to The Booking Service. In addtion The Booking Service receives a masked credit card and expiry date. The latter is used to remind members their stored card will expire soon, we send a reminder email. The token and the expiry date are never sent to the user’s browser. Admin currently has no visibility of a member’s card details and can’t take payment manually, but this may change, to enable MOTO payments using a stored card (search for MOTO on the page).

Here is a view of the data sent to the member’s browser when they make payment:

If there is demand, we may provide the same screen to enable admin to take payments, but this requires more software so that the member can permit this. Admin cannot save a card entered during a MOTO transaction.

Card details can only be stored and accessed with eWay for logged-in users. This can include non-members if they have a login.

Other future developments could include (send us your requests):

  • Automatically take final payments on due date after a deposit is paid.
  • Take payment when a waitlisted booking is accepted by admin.

If a member makes a booking and passes on the payment email to a friend, the friend can pay online without a login but can’t use a stored card. Refunds are processed via the Receipt transaction whether a stored card was used or not.
